On the final day of the Serie A season, the team that lost the Europa League Final is back at the top of the table.
Milan have now been crowned champions, taking a comfortable 2-0 victory over Udinese at the Stadio Olimpico.
The home side won the first leg, which was played in the evening, but a 2-2 draw in the second leg proved decisive.
“I’m happy with the result,” coach Stefano Pioli said after the match.
“This is a fantastic victory for us.
We know what it takes to win and the confidence is there.”
Milan went on to win the next two games, and the season after that.
“The whole team has worked extremely hard for the past two seasons,” Piolis added.
“Everyone worked hard and put in a lot of effort.”
With three wins from their past five games, the Rossoneri were unbeaten at home for the first time since their second Champions League campaign in 2012-13.
This season, however, the home side have lost four of their past six games, while Udinese, who also lost in the Europa Final, have scored only two goals in that time.
